We hope your congregation will consider including Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina in your benevolent giving. Your monthly, quarterly, or annual gifts are very important to our ministry. Every day, PCSC gives over $4,000 in charitable care to residents who need assistance. This is only possible through our partnership with faithful congregations.
Church Partnerships Make a Real Difference!
Your church’s partnership with Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina (PCSC) is very important to us. For more than 60 years, congregations across South Carolina have impacted PCSC in countless ways!
From supporting the annual Mother’s Day Offering for Charitable Care to providing love and care through frequent visits and special programs, churches and their members have been, and always will be, important partners in our ministry.
With this in mind, we have developed the suggestions below to assist your congregation as you prayerfully consider God’s direction for your church’s mission activities.
About PCSC Ambassadors
PCSC Ambassadors are made up of men and women who represent the Presbyterian churches in South Carolina and serve as liaisons between their church and Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina. Ambassadors help communicate the various needs of Presbyterian Communities to their church members and encourage support of its ministries. They share ways to give, ways to volunteer, and other ways to contribute to our mission and ministry. They help arrange programs, presentations, and mission fair displays in churches. In addition, they help promote and coordinate the annual Mother’s Day offering in their churches.
Ambassadors help share the story of the lifestyle available at PCSC communities and encourage church members and friends to learn more about what is available at each local PCSC community. They encourage people to visit PCSC communities when they are exploring retirement options.
Ways Your Congregation Can Support Our Mission
The first Mother’s Day Offering to assist with charitable care was taken on May 9, 1954. Today the offering is used to provide charitable care for our residents who have outlived their life savings without any fault of their own. Over the years, this offering has become a tradition in hundreds of congregations across the state, and serves as a wonderful way for churches to remember some very special members who now call PCSC “home!”
Through our annual Mother’s Day Offering, along with many other gifts received, we have been able to provide nearly $30 million in charitable care in the past 20 years!
We ask churches to select one member from their congregation to serve as a PCSC Ambassador. These individuals attend a meeting each Spring to hear an update on PCSC, help promote the Mother’s Day Offering and serve as important liaisons between their churches and PCSC.
Promote Presbyterian Communities as OUR premiere retirement community for members of your congregation age 62 and above. As the only Presbyterian Church (USA)-affiliated retirement community in the state, PCSC has a rich history of serving members of Presbyterian churches, and all other faiths, throughout South Carolina.
Remind your members that we also offer Medicare-reimbursed post-acute and rehabilitation services. For example, we serve both residents and non-residents alike in providing short-term rehabilitation services following knee and hip replacements.
We hope you will take the time to get to know our services and learn how we can help your members. One way you can do this is by inviting PCSC to make a presentation at your church. We are also delighted to host visits by churches who would like to bring a group to tour our communities, enjoy a complimentary lunch, and learn about our ministry.
We’d love to be a resource for your congregation anytime you need a special program on aging, dementia, or other relevant topics. As a pastor or church leader, your support and endorsement make all the difference. Any opportunity we have to share more about the mission and ministry of Presbyterian Communities is greatly appreciated.
Bill McConnell, PCSC’s Director of Foundation Services and Church Relations, is also available to make presentations for groups within your congregation, preach, provide Moments for Mission, or assist with leading worship in churches across the state.
Church groups, individuals, and ministers often give of their time and talents to enhance life for our residents. These volunteer opportunities include providing musical performances, hosting luncheons or seasonal parties, providing educational seminars, and more. One-on-one encounters to read to or simply chat with a resident are also greatly appreciated. Ministers are invited to preach or lead devotionals within each of our communities.

About Our Mother’s Day Offering
PCSC Ambassadors are a treasured part of the PCSC family. Only with their support are we able to share the story of this ministry with so many church members and promote our Mother’s Day offering. PCSC is indeed grateful for all these volunteers who meet annually to provide feedback to the staff and learn about the new things happening in the organization.
Mother’s Day is a time we set aside to remember and thank the mothers who have given so much to us. Associated with Mother’s Day, South Carolina Presbyterians have a long tradition of generously supporting the PCSC Mother’s Day Offering. This offering has been a special way of remembering and caring for older adults since 1954. The monies received from the Mother’s Day Offering are used exclusively for those residents who, through no fault of their own, have outlived their financial resources and need assistance to remain in Presbyterian Communities.
