Congratulations to our own Janice Nelson (pictured center), Life Enrichment Coordinator at Village at Summerville on winning the prestigious Leading Age Healing Heart and Hands Award! This award is for an employee that has exceptional relationships with residents and who provides special enrichment and increased quality of life to our residents through efforts that reach above and beyond the job’s description. According to Karmen Wood, Director of Life Enrichment at Village at Summerville, “Janice is always more than willing to go the extra mile for the residents here. If someone has a specific request or need, she will personally see it is done. No task is too big or too small, she always advocates for them, and ensures their needs are met. Janice takes on each day with a smile and a positive attitude, which is therapeutic to those around her.” Janice has been with the Village at Summerville for nearly 20 years and has been serving in this capacity with the same energy and warmth from day one. Village at Summerville’s chaplain, Achim Daffin says, “Janice knows our residents and invites and personally escorts them one by one to our Tuesday devotions where she also helps the volunteer choir with her strong singing voice. It is her smile and the caring and compassionate way she treats staff and residents alike.” Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina, Village at Summerville has been ministering to our seniors for over 60 years and is thrilled to continue our reputation of having exceptional employees like Janice Nelson in each of our five communities across South Carolina.
