Life Plan Communities offer a wide range of housing choices and services for a life filled with possibilities while still offering a continuum of supportive and advanced health care services should they be needed. As a result, a Life Plan Community allows planning and living to merge. Having a plan in place—the security and safety net provided by the availability of health care, coupled with the freedom from not having to manage all the day-to-day tasks that come with homeownership—allows residents to live life to the fullest.

We recommend that you consider asking yourself “what exactly is it that I am not ready for yet?” Most of the residents living in a Presbyterian Community said the same thing initially, but now they are here and enjoying all of the value and benefits of Life Plan Community living. We understand that to contemplate moving from a home you have lived in for many years can be quite overwhelming. Please consider comparing the real costs and inefficiencies of maintaining an older home to the cost of living in a Presbyterian Community. We also encourage you to evaluate what the future resale value of an older home would be. While your current home equity may be buying shelter for you, could it not do so much more in terms of securing an improved lifestyle at a Presbyterian Community? Then there is the challenge of what to do with all of the “stuff.” We would be pleased to connect you with a variety of community agencies and programs that offer services ranging from planning and organizing the move to home sales assistance and staging. Just about every resident we have experienced the same worries and concerns about moving that you are now facing. And almost without exception, the most common feedback we receive after the move is “I wish I had made the decision to do this much sooner.”

Those choosing residency must be 62 years of age or older.
There are three entrance fee options for active living patio homes and apartments:
1. The Standard Entrance Fee, which is the most affordable option and is non-refundable.
2. The Traditional Entrance Fee, which offers a refundable portion that declines monthly over a period of 48 months of occupancy until the balance reaches zero. A portion of the entrance fee is refundable should you vacate the accommodation during the first 48 months of occupancy.
3. The 50% Refundable Entrance Fee features a refundable portion that declines to 50% of the entrance fee over 46 months of occupancy but never goes below 50%. A portion greater than 50% of the entrance fee is refundable should you vacate the accommodation during the first 46 months of occupancy. After that, the refundable portion is always guaranteed to be 50% of the entrance fee.
Once you vacate the accommodation, a replacement entrance fee must be secured for it before the refundable portion of your entrance fee can be reimbursed. The refundable portion of an entrance fee may be (1) placed into a fund that is used to pay for the cost of your care in assisted living or health services (2) paid to you if you move away from the community (3) paid to your estate.
Financial guidelines require you to have assets and income sufficient to pay your financial obligations for living in a Presbyterian Community plus be able to meet your personal living expenses.
The decision to move to another level of care (from patio homes or apartments to assisted living or health services) is based on a resident’s safety and personal needs. The determination is made after an evaluation of your needs by an interdisciplinary team consisting of you, your representative, doctors, administrators, nurses, and therapists.
The Monthly Service Fee pays for a variety of programs, services, and amenities associated with living in a Presbyterian Community. For a complete listing of what is covered by the Monthly Service Fee please see the enclosed information pertaining to Active Living Patio Homes and Apartments.
The Monthly Service Fee includes a Meal Plan. Three full meals are prepared daily and you may choose the meals you will take based on your own personal schedule. This is possible because the Meal Plan is set up as a monthly declining balance for food items purchased at each meal and priced a la carte. Thus allowing you to select as many food items as you desire with any overage for food charges applied to your next monthly invoice. Any unused amount may be rolled over at the end of the month for a maximum of three months.
Management Services reviews all fees periodically and, at the discretion of the organization’s Board of Trustees, may adjust fees.
Pets are allowed subject to the terms of the Pet Policy that is available upon request.
You may have guests in your residence or reserve available private guest accommodations through the individual Community.
You may make certain alterations and modifications as outlined in the Residence and Services Agreement and you will be responsible for the cost of any approved alterations or modifications.
Residences are furnished with carpeting or wood/laminate flooring, window blinds, refrigerator/freezer, and stove. Washers and dryers are provided in patio homes as well as in the main buildings for use by those who reside in apartments. Each residence has individually controlled heating and air conditioning. You provide furniture, furnishings, accessories and window treatments (with the exception of window blinds).
One of the many benefits of residing in a Presbyterian Community is being able to live life the way you choose to. That means time to pursue new interests and hobbies or discover new talents. You may choose from a variety of regularly scheduled events and activities from weekly Vespers Services in the community to travel opportunities. Or if unstructured suits you better, there is plenty of time for quiet reflection or curling up with a good book. You make the choices.
Medicare is the federal government’s health insurance program for people 65 or older and for many who have disabilities. The intent of Medicare has always been to help people rehabilitate and get back on their feet following an illness, injury or surgery. It does not cover the cost of long-term care residency in a skilled nursing facility. For placement in a skilled nursing facility, Medicare Part A requires a minimum of three consecutive days stay in a hospital not counting the day of discharge and you must be admitted to a skilled nursing facility within 30 days of discharge. The benefit period for a skilled nursing facility is a maximum of 100 days. You will be responsible for a co-payment from day 21 to 100 of your stay. A new benefit period begins after 60 days without a hospital or skilled nursing facility stay. You must require skilled care services on a daily basis from a licensed nurse and/or a registered therapist. Your physician must certify that you require skilled care. When it is determined that you no longer need skilled care, Medicare will no longer pay for services. This may occur before the full 100 day benefit period is up.
- Select the type of residence you prefer, sign a reservation agreement and pay a reservation deposit.
- Complete an admission application and financial statement.
- When you make the decision to move in, select a specific residence and set your move in date you will be asked to pay 10% of the Entrance Fee less the reservation deposit. This should be within 60 days of your established move in date.
- The balance of the Entrance Fee is due and payable following completion of admission forms, execution of the residence and services agreement and prior to move in.
